Back on the dyno the truck is now sitting at 411.3 hp and 770.3 lbs./ft of torque. That’s an improvement of nearly 80 hp and over 160 lbs./ft of torque. To measure the fuel difference, we gave the truck owner six months to see what difference these upgrades made.

Since most of the driving Jeff Westfall does with his Dodge includes hooking up to a trailer, it’s hard for him to gauge just how much better his fuel economy really is.
“Stock I was getting around 13 to 15 mpg with my trailer and I’m now seeing up to 19 mpg with a full load,” says Westfall. “In my old gasser, when empty I was getting around 12 miles per gallon so even on my worst day pulling a full trailer I’m still miles ahead.”
As for the power, with the FlowMaster exhaust and S&B intake, the turbo spools up faster and according to the truck owner, the sound is amazing.
“I’m sure having that exhaust only contributes to the gains I received in mileage, but it’s the sound that I noticed the most,” says Westfall. “It a deep rumble now, yet it’s not so loud that you have to yell to talk to your passengers. It really purrs nicely and gives you the best of all worlds.”
On the GT Tuner from Bully Dog, Westfall jumped in with no hesitation and found the system easy to control and monitor, even though this is his first diesel truck and he has never owned a tuner before.
“I would without any hesitation recommend the Bully Dog tuner,” says Westfall. “It’s easy to operate and navigate through the different options that are available. Having key information so easily available makes me wonder why I didn’t do this sooner.”
