Boosting It Up
Having dealt with getting air and fuel to the system, it was now time to add some serious power. For the next part of the build we got right to work on the turbo.
Selecting the ideal turbo for the Honey Badger was important because it was going to be a daily driver for Searle and we wanted one that was perfectly suited for that. As before, Ryan at RKL Diesel was our go-to man for helping us choose one.
For the swap, we went with the D-Tech 62mm turbocharger from Diesel Power Source due to its reliability and support. Diesel Power Source is close to RKL Diesel so it is easy to get help if there are any issues.
The turbo is rated for up to 470hp, which also helps it to be a great driver as it delivers most of its torque right in the middle of the rev range.
“Once it is at 2,500 RPMs and shifting into second, I’m not losing any of that pull when I move it forward,” says Searle.
With all the power mods now finished, the Honey Badger was now able to play the part. Now we just needed it to look the part too.
