Pickup Upgrades Remain Largest Industry Sector

September 2019 News

As per the 2019 SEMA Market Report, pickup upgrades are the largest category of the aftermarket automotive industry. They account for 27 percent of all retail money, followed by mid-size cars and SUVs. That is a general reflection of vehicles on the road, but the industry is huge and offers a wide variety of products for vehicles of different types. Thus, customers' interests vary greatly. With that, sales of each vehicle type influence the overall market.

Also according to the report, the aftermarket industry continues to grow at a high pace. Last year, a total of $44.6 billion was spent on aftermarket parts. SEMA anticipates that it will continue to grow through the end of 2019 and projects sales at a new record of $46 billion.
