Spread The Word
This is something that Kalin feels very strongly about, and it’s something she wants to talk about. “Some women get badgered on for not knowing the size of their exhaust tip or what’s been done to their truck. Some women are just getting into exactly where I was. When I first bought my truck, I had absolutely no idea what was done to it. All I knew is it was a 6-speed and it had 400,000 miles on it. That was it. I had to learn what was done to it. There’s never a wrong question, so when girls post and say, ‘I know this is a silly question, but…’ I’m always like there’s never a dumb question. Never.”
She continues, “I just want girls to not be ashamed. I feel like being in the community of diesels, it’s just really hard for women to be in the community and be respected, to an extent. When people ask me what’s done to my truck, and I tell them, they have this attitude like, ‘That’s pretty cool that you know what’s been done.’ And I’m like, ‘Duh, I did it.’”
Kalin is proud of the community and the way everybody has each other’s back when it comes to being a woman in the community. She says, “Other girls definitely reach out and they’re supportive and it’s just fun. I really love being involved in diesels.”
