Project TowMax: Part 1

The Right Stuff

As we chatted with Travis, he very quickly established his bona fides. Maine is a long ways from the rest of the country, and Norridgewock is pretty isolated within the state itself, so there aren’t a lot of options for repair/upgrade shops in the area, let alone ones that cater to diesels. Travis started the shop five years ago after having spent a few years doing his own thing around town. He says, “We did sled pulls and put a beating on my truck to the point that we ended up breaking it quite a bit. That led into constant repairs and fixing stuff and getting into the market of needing to fix it with bigger, better, badder parts. The more we got into that, the more we found people saying, ‘Hey, can you work on my diesel? What can I do to fix this?’”

His father ran a car dealership when he was younger, so Travis got a lot of experience fixing things. “I was always the kid that was pretty hard on equipment. We broke stuff, and it was one of those things that if you wanted it to run, you had to fix it. We made it work.” That mindset carried over to Redline Motorsports: treat people as fair as you possibly can, give them what they pay for and give them products that actually fix the issue they’re having. In just the five years he’s been open, the shop’s growth has surpassed most of the other local shops that have been in business for 20-plus years. And only in the last year has he even had more help than just himself. “At that time, we were a one-man shop. I was answering the phone, working on trucks, ordering parts, I did it all.” Pretty impressive work for one guy!

Travis is a dealer for Premier Performance and did so well, in fact, that he was invited to go on their annual dealer cruise. It’s a huge honor that is only bestowed to the top 100 dealers in the country. Never one to rest on his laurels, Travis took the opportunity to talk with the other dealers on the cruise about the idea he had for the project truck. With the ball rolling, it was time to take the truck to the next level. All the truck needed now was a name. For one that would be so focused on pulling, we knew it had to be just right. After thinking about a bunch, all together we decided to call this baby Project TowMax.
