The 2016 OPTIMA Ultimate Film Festival Is Now Accepting Entries

April 2016 News, Feature Trevor Mason

I know it seems like it just happened, but the annual SEMA show is going to be here sooner than you think, and with it, the OPTIMA Batteries Ultimate Film Festival is making its triumphant return. We attended the event last year, and it was a lot of fun. The videos on display showcased a wide variety of disciplines from around the automotive industry, including a couple showcasing some tricked-out diesels. Let’s get some more of those videos submitted and represent the diesel lifestyle!

“Performance enthusiasts across the country are creatively pushing the limit, all while their cameras are rolling, and we’re excited to be a catalyst for people to come and experience these incredible films,” said Cam Douglass, director of marketing for OPTIMA Batteries, Johnson Controls. “We know fans are hungry to connect with the industry’s action and passion, and we remain committed to bringing this content to them in a variety of ways.”

OPTIMA is getting a jump on receiving entries this year with an expanded schedule. There are three entry periods with corresponding regional screenings for the entries:

  • April 8 – May 20 - entry period for the first regional event on June 17 at Formula Drift in New Jersey
  • May 21 – July 22 - entry period for the second regional event in August at the Woodward Dream Cruise in Detroit
  • July 23 – September 20 - entry period for the finale event on November 2 during the SEMA Show

The two categories for the festival are Short Film, which are less than seven minutes long in a story or documentary style and focus on the lifestyle and performance vehicles, and Action Cam, which are less than two minutes long and show a vehicle in action on POV action cams.

The judges for this year’s event are Ryan Tuerck from Formula Drift, David Freiburger from Roadkill, Fred Williams from Dirt Every Day/Four Wheeler, and Matt Farrah from The Smoking Tire/Drive Network. Winning films will be featured in a one-hour TV special on MAVTV. For the official rules, FAQs, and full susmission details, visit www.optimafilmfest.com.
