Weigh-Safe Wins Best New Product At SEMA

Published in the December 2014 Issue December 2014 News

There were over 2000 new product entries representing 16 categories competing for SEMA innovation awards at this year’s show. One of the winners was Kevin McAllister, the inventor of the Weigh-Safe trailer hitch, which was selected Best of the New Tools and Equipment category at the show.

Leap Innovations, Inc. is preparing to market the hitch ball mount with a built-in scale to measure tongue weight, which if used, will help avoid dangerous load distribution and potential accidents.  It will be available in steel and aluminum with a variety of styles and drops.

“Since 1988, 468,462 injuries and over 765,058 vehicles, boats, campers and other items have been destroyed and damaged,” said McAllister. “The results for last year alone are 392 deaths, 18,634 injuries and 49,107 incidences of property damage. We anticipate that Weigh-Safe will help reduce the number of accidents caused by improper weight distribution.” (www.weigh-safe.com)
