Problem Solving
“We had a good bit of trouble sorting out the wiring for the LB7 and a few more issues to work through,” recalls Hoover. “On the plus side, we learned quite a lot from all of the problems we were having and eventually figured everything out.”
When the engine was properly wired, routed and functioning to specification, it was tuned with EFILive and a five position switch was added so each tune could be changed quickly. Satisfied, Hoover picked up the body and reinstalled it to the C20's modified frame. Everything was completed and it all came down to the test drive.
“The truck had a surprisingly good feel on the highway and rode very nice,” says Hoover. “I started out on this build looking for a unique, powerful truck, but also wanted a classic daily driver, and that's exactly what I got.”
Over the first summer of the Chevrolet C20's dynamic makeover, Hoover brought it to several shows, participated in four truck pulls and drove virtually everywhere in the daily driver of his dreams. With his crash course introduction into the world of diesel finally over and the C20 build behind him, he looked forward to different horizons in the vast world of opportunity that only diesels can offer.
