Peer Pressure II

Going Down Below

Published in the August 2014 Issue August 2014 News Brady L. Kay

As you look back on some of the crazy things you’ve done in your life, in almost every single case, some type of peer pressure was probably involved. No one talks themselves into doing something that might get them in trouble, it’s always that friend that you can later blame who pressured you into doing it. But even though peer pressure in general is often seen as a negative thing, there are some positives that can come from it too.

For example, if not for his friends, Trent Mayes might still be driving around in a stock 2012 Chevy LML Duramax. It’s a good thing his friends subscribe to the motto, friends don’t let friends drive stock.

After purchasing his new diesel off the showroom floor nearly two years ago, Trent’s friends immediately began putting the pressure on him to modify it. Finally after a little budging—as well as an understanding wife—Trent was finally ready to give into peer pressure and make his truck his own by making it unique and taylior-made to him and his hobbies.

Trent’s brother-in-law has connections with Bully Dog through Marketing Manager Adrian Croot, who worked out the details so Trent could have the installs all completed at the American Falls, Idaho, shop. After gathering up the products, Trent headed to Bully Dog.

First Day Recap

The first day of the build at the Bully Dog headquarters in American Falls, Idaho, was extremely productive. Bully Dog Shop Manager Theo Harmison and Assistant Manager Nick Adamson got busy on the 2012 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD by installing the Rapid Flow Stage-2 Intake from Bully Dog, MagnaFlow 6.6L 4-inch DPF exhaust and the Triple Dog GT-Diesel tuner from Bully Dog. Just these modifications alone has this Duramax sitting at 413.8 hp and 802.2 ft/lbs. of torque, which translate to gains of just over 200hp and 300 ft/lbs. of torque from what we recorded on our first run on the Bully Dog dyno with the stock truck.

Back To Bully Dog

Day two of our build had the truck high in the air for most of the time as we continued to lay the ground work.
