Finding The Limits
One night while he was out testing a new tune and admits that he was trying to see just how hard he could push the truck on the hottest tune at the highest setting, his turbo blew up. The compressor wheel made contact with the housing and it pretty much just exploded on the inside and trashed the whole turbo, according to Hayward.
"I was freaking out since the truck only had less than 500 miles on it," recalls Hayward. "I called Vinny on his cell and in the middle of the night he answered and calmed me down immediately. He offered to overnight me a new stock turbo for free. I slept good that night knowing Alligator Diesel Performance had my back and would be there for me the next day even though they were hundreds of miles away."
The next morning he called Vinny back and told him he wanted to upgrade to a larger, better and more reliable turbo.
"He tried to talk me out of it because he knew my wife was nine months pregnant and we probably needed the money instead," says Hayward. "After thinking about it for an hour or so I decided to order the Alligator Stage 1 Power Package which came with a BD third generation two-piece exhaust manifold, an Industrial Injection Silver Bullet 66 Turbo, which I later removed, and all the gaskets, plugs and bolts to make it work on a 6.7L. I also ordered a set of ARP 625 Head Studs for some extra engine protection and insurance!"
