The Honey Badger Part 2

Putting the power to the road in our Dodge dually

Getting On The Road

The results on the road have been incredible. Driving the Honey Badger after the overhaul is such a

The work RKL did gives the automatic transmission a much stiffer shift, which gives it more of a grab when shifting from gear to gear. This also helps it have more of the satisfying driving feel of a manual.night and day difference.

For towing, the transmission now holds on first gear longer, which is ideal. While this might not be the best for straight line acceleration, it has paid dividends for hauling trailers. This is because the power that is available at higher RPMs is readily available for when the transmission shifts into second gear. The transmission makes the truck feel like it's going to eat up any hill in its way.

Even when we weren't towing, the truck shifts are now smooth and responsive, especially when delivering power through second and third gear.

"Honestly, it's the closest feeling I've had to strapping a rocket on my back with roller skates, just like Wile E. Coyote," remarks Searle. "You get push feel, rather than pull, which is really a nice sensation and I really enjoy that."

We have been very impressed with the time RKL took to deliver such a great transmission. Every drive is just as satisfying as the last.

A Look Ahead

We have some exciting upgrades planned for the future. We still have a long way to go and we are looking forward to every moment of it. In the next part of the series we will be working to improve how fuel gets to the engine with an awesome upgrade to the fuel system. The Honey Badger just doesn't care what people think and we're ready to move forward with it.
