The Honey Badger Part 2

Putting the power to the road in our Dodge dually

December 2013 Build Lee Lovell

Putting It Down

Fortunately for us, we had no issues and the rebuild of the transmission went smoothly. For our Honey Badger truck, we decided to go with their Stage 2 towing and performance package. The advantage to having the work done by RKL is they use parts that are made in-house.

The rebuild of the transmission included a redline clutch, a triple-disc torque converter and updated solenoids, all from RKL. In addition to that, the pumps and valve bodies got a complete do-over to make sure that they were in the best condition and will run for the foreseeable future.

We are really excited about all the benefits that the rebuild of the transmission will give the Honey Badger. We have some big plans for adding some serious power to the engine and it will definitely help with putting that power to the road.

"It allows usable power to get to the ground," says Ryan. "If the truck has a tranny that doesn't support that kind of power at the rear wheels then we are kind of wasting our time,"

Since we are planning on some serious towing, it will, of course, help out there. Towing capability will be increased because transmission temperatures will be lower and, overall, it will be considerably more durable.
