Bringing It

With the air, fuel and transmission finished, we knew it was time to get to work on the part of the build we had been looking forward to most: the turbo.

It can be easily said that the turbo bolted to your engine can determine whether or not you love your truck or not. Selecting just the right turbo was a high priority for us. To help us reach our goals with this build, we again went back to Ryan at RKL Diesel.

Since this is a daily driver, we wanted a turbo that would be best suited for doing just that. With that in mind, Ryan recommended we go with the D-Tech 62mm turbocharger from Diesel Power Source.

When helping his customers pick out parts for their dream builds, Ryan often recommends this turbo for two reasons: reliability and support.

“We have had zero failures that were the turbo’s fault,” notes Ryan. “Being a shop owner I don’t want to fix the truck twice so I am going to put whatever I can on the truck so it won’t come back for a warranty failure.”

Diesel Power Source’s shop is fairly close to Ryan’s so support is easy to come by if they are ever in need of it.

“That’s not to say there are none out there that have the exact same quality on their turbos, but when I find something that works really well and you don’t have any failure and you’ve got a guy on the other end taking care of you, that seals it up for me pretty good,” adds Ryan.
