Heading Out

Not forgetting that everything that goes in must come out, we made sure the exhaust was addressed as well.

For the exhaust we chose a 4-inch Turboback kit with muffler from MBRP. The old exhaust came from the factory so we figured it was well overdue to be replaced. The stock exhaust on the 2002 Dodge Rams is 3 inches so the upgrade allows the exhaust to flow better. The kit also eliminates the catalytic converter which, together with the bigger pipe, results in lower EGTs. This will pay dividends when towing with the Honey Badger.

"Exhaust gas temperatures are crucial," says Ryan. "Air in and air out on a diesel is power and efficiency so we're getting away from the bottleneck on the old exhaust."

"It's very easy to install; it's clean, it has no rattles and it fits like it should," says the shop owner. "You don't have to cut, weld, or re-bend it like other manufacturers that we have experienced."He also remarked that the kit is outstanding because it is easy to install and specifically built for the truck you order it for.
