New Chevrolet Colorado hits the world market

September 2011 News

The new Chevrolet Colorado midsized pickup is gearing up to begin production in markets around the world. Final tests on the vehicle are almost complete, and soon the diesel-powered pickup will make its debut in the Middle East, South America, Africa and Asia.

But will the U.S. market see a new Chevrolet Colorado? General Motors has issued no official confirmations, but many industry watchers expect that the U.S. may get a version of the new Colorado as a replacement for the current Colorado/Canyon twins.

GM's only comment to date, made through company representative Tom Wilkinson, has acknowledged that the company is considering production of a midsize truck for the U.S. market. The company is currently busy with the launch of the new Colorado to world-wide markets, so it may be some time before there's any additional word about a model for the U.S.

Since Thailand will be the first to receive the Colorado trucks, a testing team from General Motors lived in the country in order to better understand the needs of the average Thai consumer.
