Trucks, tractors pull crowd to fairgrounds

STERLING -- Although the Logan County Chamber of Commerce`s High Plains Outdoor Expo was held on Father`s Day weekend, the event also offered booths and activities for the moms and kids.

Outside, displays included outdoor recreation equipment -- boats, RVs, ATVs and lawn mowers. Local emergency response agencies were also represented, with information from the Logan County Sheriff`s Office, a chance to tour a truck from the Sterling Fire Department, and a bike safety booth from the Sterling Police Department. There were also some food booths, where visitors could get a treat or full meal.

wood items, knives and outdoor gear. Several area organizations, like North Sterling State Park and the new Sterling Area Young Professionals group, also set up tables to present information about their services and events. At the Logan County Fair table, visitors could get an autograph from Logan County Miss Rodeo Kelli Blough and Attendant Shelby Rich, as well as enter a drawing for a CD by Night Show opening act Jerrod Niemann and headliner LeAnn Rimes.
