We ordered and installed the FS-2500 bypass filtration kit from Filtration Solutions Worldwide. We were impressed by the fact that Filtration Solutions was able to prove through third party lab testing that its filter element is able to effectively filter contaminants down to 2.78 microns.
The element canister is powdercoated steel with a solid steel, threaded base. The canister is held together with a large diameter, grade 8 bolt that protrudes through the filter element and threads into the base of the canister.
This means that we will no longer have oil filled with 25 micron-sized particles sanding away at our caps and bearings. And since the tolerances are generally between 2 and 22 microns in our engines, we only have to worry about .78 microns sanding away at the internals. We just eliminated about 90 percent of the engine wear that the manufacturer deems acceptable. This equates to dramatically extended engine life. It also equates to dramatically extended oil life because the oil is cleaned as the engine runs.
