Stage 6: Better Air

The company has also increased the inlet and outlet to 3-inch diameter from 2.5-inch diameter. This intercooler is rated to hold up to 100 psi and flow over 1500 CFM with minimal pressure loss (less than 1 psi). This upgraded intercooler has 57 percent more cooling area and has a 33 percent thicker core than our stock intercooler. BD boasts a 90 percent cooling efficiency compared to 70 percent efficiency of a stock intercooler.

We are also replacing our stock intake elbow with BD's X-Flow Power Intake Elbow. This larger intake elbow provides a larger reserve space for charge air to accumulate before it's forced into the engine. This new elbow also provides a smoother, more direct flow of charge air into the engine.

With these upgrades, we're feeding the engine dramatically cooler air, giving us a noticeable increase in power and throttle response. We've also noticed cooler EGTs by 100 to 200 degrees under heavy boost. EGTs seem to drop faster during idle before we shut the engine down as well.
