WHAT: EGR Delete Kit for 2003-07 Ford 6. 0L Power Stroke
HOW MUCH: $355 for the complete kit that includes all new gaskets, seals, screws, and machined hardware.
HOW IT WORKS:
It's pretty common knowledge that the 6.0LPower Stroke, while an impressive powerplant, has had a few agonizing issues. Most common were blown head gaskets from the lack of clampling force from factory head bolts, sticky variable vanes in the early turbos and that pesky EGR system.
To help combat some of these issues, whether you've already experienced them or would like to prevent them before they happen, turn to the EGR Delete Kit. This new kit from Gillett Diesel in Bluffdale, UT, is one of the cleanest, well thought-out and great performing kits on the market.
Deleting the EGR System on your 6.0L Power Stroke can accomplish a few things. First, cleaner intake air to the engine. You'll no longer have spent exhaust running back into the intakes and being run back through the engine. That means cooler EGTS, a cleaner running engine and no more worries of leaky and plugged EGR Systems.
We installed the kit on a 2004 F250, although we'll admit it is not an install for novies. If you've got some mechanical background and feel you could conquer your own turboo swap or do most of your work yourself, this is and install that can be done in 6-8 hours. The Gillett Diesel EGR Delete Kit comes complete with new OEM gaskets, seals and screws, along with top-notch quality machined replacement parts. The install isn't complicated, just time-consuming as there are a lot of parts that need to be removed to gain access to the EGR system.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
After installation was complete our test truck noticed a drop in EGTs while cruising at 65 MPH around 40 degrees F. The truck has yet to throw any check engine lights or trouble codes and all seems to be running well.
For anyone interested in deleting their factory EGR system on the 6.0L Power Stroke, take a serious look at this one from Gillett Diesel you'll be impressed.
