TS Event Canceled, Track and Drag Strip Vandalized Overnight

May 2009 News
A few partying overnight campers at the events compound for TS Performance's drag race event in Bowling Green, KY, turned the grass infields into a mud bog.

Sometime after officials closed down the area at 6 pm Friday evening, a few of those who had made the trip to the event and were staying the night on the events grounds in campers drove trucks out into the grass infields late Friday night and early Saturday morning. It had been raining all week and the ground was soaked.

Trucks drove through the grass areas until they turned into mud pits. Sources say there were at least two trucks found stuck in the mud Saturday morning when officials arrived at the scene. Other trucks drove down the asphalt drag strips, flinging mud on the racing surface for most of the length of the track.

All events at the Beech Bend Raceway center have been canceled. The sled pulls are still on schedule for Southern Kentucky Fairgrounds.
