Six-Five Revive

Diesel tuning before GM went Duramax

Published in the August 2008 Issue August 2008 Column

The last part of making this truck breathe better was to get rid of the factory restrictive exhaust and manifold crossover pipe. In place of the factory system went a 4-inch turbo-back exhaust and two-piece mandrel bent crossover pipe. This system allows for faster turbo spool up and much lower exhaust temperature than the factory system.

The last thing to do before taking this truck out for its first test drive was to install a set of Danin Optix gauges on the A-pillar (including transmission temp, exhaust temp and boost pressure). White dash gauges were also installed to match the A-pillar gauges.
