PPE's New Forged Idler Pivot Assembly

February 2020 Products DT Staff

Failed idler arm pivot assemblies can make your steering feel loose and washy. In the longer run, it can lead to premature wear of your tires and steering linkage. Additionally, if your truck is lifted with larger wheels and tires, this effect is more pronounced. PPE's Forged Idler Arm Assembly solves those issues. Inside the forged steel housing are two tapered high-load roller bearings with rubber seals to protect them from water and debris; the bearings are pre-greased. If your axles spend a lot of time under water, a periodic re-grease using the built-in zerk fitting is recommended. For normal use (including off-road, high mileage, or heavy duty), this arm assembly requires no maintenance. If you're experiencing any dangerous wear indicators in your older steering, consider inspecting or replacing the other key components including tie rods, pitman and idler arms and center link with PPE's heavy-duty line of steering products to ensure your rig rolls straight and solid.
