Power For Days
Everything he’s done on the truck has been for the sake of accommodating the increased power he’s constantly seeking. “I picked triple stock CP3s for the reason of reliability,” he says. “I have seen a lot of stroker pumps not last long in daily driven trucks. But I needed the fuel for big horsepower. The engine was built with parts that Josh has been using in the shop for years. They have been tested and trued so I stuck with them. The turbo setup is Industrial Injection modified BorgWarner turbos. I used them because that’s what we use in the shop on a regular basis. The piping kit was hand-built by myself because I couldn’t find a kit I liked at the time.”
If you follow the industry very closely, you know that Josh Gruis, president and owner of Jag’s Pro Shop, has one of the fastest drag trucks out there, taking 6th place overall in this year’s Ultimate Callout Challenge. Granted, that’s in a dedicated drag racing truck, while Dillon is keeping his truck 100 percent street legal. That said, he’s doing good work in getting the truck relatively close to Josh’s 9-second truck.
