Ford Set To Recall 1.3 Million Trucks Due To Safety Issue

October 2017 Feature Trevor Mason

Ford announced on Wednesday that it is undertaking a recall of 1.3 million F150 and Super Duty trucks because they have found that there is a problem with the side door latches that can cause the door to open while the vehicle is in motion. The latches on the doors can become frozen or the actuation cables can get kinked or bent. According to Ford, “the door may appear closed, but the latch may not fully engage the door striker with the potential that the door could open while driving, increasing the risk of injury.”

The recall covers the 2017 model year for Super Duty trucks and 2015-2017 for F150s. Apparently the idea is to install water shields and perform inspections on affected vehicles. There’s not currently a time for when repairs will begin, but affected customers will be notified starting next month.
