Oil Leak Equals No Start

A common tale for a 7.3L

July 2014 Feature, PowerStroke Brady L. Kay

It was really that simple, just a hole in the side of the oil pan was keeping my truck from firing up. For the motor oil, Powerlabs recommended Royal Purple HPS 10W-40 and I was happy with their choice. Royal Purple's advanced additive technologies, such as Synerlec, enable its products to outperform leading synthetic and conventional lubricants.

Royal Purple HPS 10W-40 is a performance upgrade oil for any Cummins, Detroit, Duramax, International, Power Stroke, etc. diesel engine. I like it because it has higher amounts of anti-wear additive and its proprietary Synerlec additive, giving it performance and protection advantages.

The good news is my truck was back to starting again, now that the oil leak had been taken care of by Powerlabs. The bad news was coming home to an oil puddle in my garage that I somehow had forgotten about it. I knew it would bother me so I decided to tackle it right away. I picked a bag of Oil-Dri absorbent and that at least soaked up the problem. Then following a shop trick I picked up awhile back, I poured a bag of kitty litter on the oil stains and grinded it into the cement with my shoes. Then I just swept my garage clean. It's not a perfect fix, but my garage floor does look a lot better than it did, which got me out of the doghouse with the wife.
