Troubleshooting

Part 2: Dodge

June 2014 Feature Michael Deulley

In the September issue of Diesel Tech, we took a look at some of the inherent issues that plagued GM and Chevrolet diesel engines. This time, Erik Lind, owner of Left Coast Diesel in Livermore, Calif., has passed on important knowledge that every potential truck buyer should know about the Dodge Cummins system.

Dodge, like Ford and Chevy, is a great company to begin with, but when powered by a Cummins, a Dodge truck is nothing short of amazing. But even with all the diesel power and torque that a Cummins engine has to offer, there is a list of potential problems that have happened often enough to land in Lind's list of "what to watch for" when owning a Dodge pickup. Hopefully, by the end of this, you'll be equipped with enough knowledge to make the best choice in your next Dodge, and you'll have the tools to remedy any situation, whatever it may be.
