Big Blue Part VII

Recapping our 7.3L project truck

Published in the December 2012 Issue December 2012 Build

Our Goals

As with most of our builds on older trucks, our plan going in is to find an alternative to buying a new or newer truck. We wanted the end result to be a daily-driver with improved fuel economy, plus be reliable, durable and able to tow anything. But at the same time, we wanted to make big power that would throw you back in your seat when you stood on it. Is it wrong that we want to be able to pass on the hills, regardless of what's on our hitch?

If we were going to turn Big Blue from a stock grocery-getter into a true beast worthy of its name, we knew we had to get Powerlabs Diesel in Idaho Falls, Idaho, involved. Owner Brent Willsey helped us outline where we needed to go with this Power Stroke and this shop was heavily involved in the build from start to finish.
