Our Build
It was for that precise reason that we went ahead with the 2002 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins dually as our project truck. The Ram's previous life was akin to that of a pack mule: it was used by a dealer to tow vehicles to different states and over the course of its travels it had racked up over 200,000 miles on the odometer.
Most people might overlook a diesel truck with that many miles, but not Searle.
"We just don't care. We are going to make it a head turner," says the owner. "This truck is the Honey Badger."
He found the truck to be in good condition considering the miles and decided to give it some love and attention. For this multi-part series we are going to take a look at what you can do to a high-mileage truck and hopefully have it run for another 200,000 miles.
When the truck was purchased, we realized we had a good foundation to build on. The majority of the miles were highway and the engine was completely stock. To get started on this build, we enlisted the help of Edge Performance for the planning and RKL Diesel Performance for the installations.
