Diesel Shootout 2011

A call for trucks

Published in the April 2011 Issue April 2011 Ask The Expert

Drag racing and sled pulls
will continue to entertain thousands at local events around the country, and as a magazine, we'll continue to hit as many as possible. Because let's face it, these are a lot of fun to watch. But at the same time, at Diesel Tech we've always prided ourselves on being a magazine for the average working Joe who uses his truck more for work than for show. It's a working man's truck magazine, not a show truck publication that features trucks that are afraid to get dirty or where owners only rub the mirror-finish with a diaper.

So when
DT mag decided to create a truck test, we knew it had to reflect what our hard-core readers have come to expect. Starting the year, we're looking for modified performance diesel trucks to compete for top honors in our first annual Diesel Shootout.

Qualifying trucks will compete against the clock as the trucks will run through an open course to test and evaluate trucks being used for every day tasks like pulling a load over the mountain.

Horsepower classes will be established based on the participants. (www.dieseltechmag.com.)
