Project LBMC

On the road, we're very happy with this upgrade. To date, the brake has worked flawlessly. For the most part, we keep the brake active on the truck at all times. It works great to slow the truck when empty or loaded. If we pay attention to our driving and anticipate our stops, we are able to use the service brakes very little. The exhaust brake does most of the work for us just by letting our foot off of the throttle. We really appreciate the brake when towing. Our past experience without the brake has us bracing ourselves for a white knuckle trip down Donner Pass as we are pushed down the grade by our 15,000 lb. load in the the Sierra Mountains of California. However, with the brake, it was an entirely different experience because the exhaust brake held us at a controlled speed. We only touched the service brakes three or four times down the entire grade. An added bonus that we weren't expecting from the brake is that every time the brake releases, it blows off the air pressure in the compressor line and actuator. This makes a pretty cool noise that sounds somewhat like the air brake reserve being released on a semi truck. So, not only does the truck stop better, it sounds cool doing it.
