Traction Tires

December 2018 Round Up, Feature

Not all roads are paved. Come to think of it, not all roads are roads. Whether you are rolling down a six-lane freeway or picking your way up a rocky ridge, you want your vehicle to be connected to the ground in the best possible way.

The editors of Diesel Tech Magazine have identified some of the more popular tires that will not only get you down the road, but over the mountains, through the snow and across every other possible road condition.

Cooper Discoverer AT34S

The new Cooper Discoverer AT34S sets the standard in all-weather, all-terrain performance. The new Discoverer AT34S with Adaptive-Traction Technology leads the pack in all-weather performance across multiple measures, and is also severe-weather rated.

With improved wet weather performance, snow performance, fuel economy and a best-in-class mileage warranty of 65,000 miles, the new Discoverer AT34S is the tire for consistently powerful performance.

Compared to other leading all-terrain tires, the AT34S stops on average 20 feet shorter on snow. These tires also are shown to accelerate 15 percent faster on snow.

Cooper Discoverer A/Tw

The Cooper Discoverer A/Tw truck tire is an all-terrain, all-season tire designed to perform well on the highway or off, and features enhanced snow capabilities. The tread design helps to prevent stone retention, while grooves in the tire improve loose surface traction.

For those looking for a truck tire with excellent winter performance, the Discoverer A/Tw  is a true all-season performer.  The tire is severe weather rated, featuring Snowgroove 2.0 Technology from Cooper, which helps to increase the contact surface area and locks snow into the grooves, generating snow-on-snow traction. The Discoverer A/Tw also features a 50,000 mile warranty.

The Exo Grapple AWT is rated with the 3-peak mountain snowflake for winter driving conditions. The sipes and large lateral grooves provide biting edges as well as water and snow/slush evacuation. These tread features are combined with a new durable compound that allows for traction in freezing temperatures. For additional traction, option TSMI #15 studs can be added for increased winter traction. Whether your journey takes you through off-road trails, gravel or farmland, the Exo Grappler AWT is built for four-seasons of four-wheeling.
