Blowing Up

Most of the modifications he has made along the way are things he simply decided to try to see if he could do. For example, after he learned how to weld, he spent the winter building a twin turbo kit. He also took some tips from a social media post and decided to make his set of halos for his headlights. “I put my whole headlight in the oven and baked it apart. There’s no lip on the inside of a factory headlight to put the ring, actually, so I had to build a lip with some stuff called Quick Steel. I would never recommend that anybody do that. It’s pretty stressful to put the headlight together without getting dust or fingerprints everywhere.” Duly noted!

Other additions Jake has made to the truck include Hamilton 110 valve springs, ARP 625 chrome headstuds, Smarty S06 tuning, an AirDog 220 lift pump, a Turbosmart waste gate, a T4 Steed Speed gated manifold, a 3250 dual-disc South Bend clutch, Bilstein shocks, and Nitto 420 tires on 22x14 American Force EVO SS wheels. The interior is also completely redone, with brand-new carpet, custom leather seats, a re-wired sound system, Auto Meter gauges, tinted windows, and even a fire extinguisher.

With such a can-do spirit and so much know-how, Jake is sure to hit his 1,000hp goal before too long. He might break a few eggs in the process, but what’s that saying about making omelettes?
