“I now have a street-legal truck that I can reliably drive to the track,” he says. “I run a low 10-second pass on fuel and drive it back home.” Last year he took the truck to an event called Power Cruise that’s held at Brainerd International raceway every summer. “Part of the event is open road course. I ran the truck in it, and it was fun to watch street and muscle cars catch me in the corners and start coming up on me until the turbos kicked in, then I could pull away even at over 100mph!” That’s pretty good!
Last year was also the first time he went 10’s. He says he’s still fighting a bit of a hop on his launches, but with the addition of nitrous, some suspension upgrades and TCM tuning, he’s hoping to get the truck into the 9-second range. And with an Allison transmission! “I know it’s been done but not by many,” he says.
Josh is also proud of what Dillon’s put together. “He’ll drive it from here to the drag strip, which is 100 miles from us, run a 10.30 quarter-mile pass and drive it home; he’s got that much faith in it. It is a true street truck. I’d say it’s Minnesota’s baddest street truck in the diesel world, period. It’s his little baby.”
