Project LBMC

Stage 6: Better Air

taking out the intercoolerWe've been grooming Project LBMC to become a well-equipped hauler, puller and daily driver.

It will do all of these things really well. This truck is so enjoyable to drive, you'll hardly notice your kids in the back seat. We started with a stock 2007 Dodge 3500 DRW Mega Cab with one of the last 5.9L Cummins to roll off the line.

We immediately took the truck to Precision Bodyline in North Salt Lake, UT, for a long bed conversion, where it received the eight-foot-long box it should have been shipped from the factory with. During the conversion, Precision installed a PopUp Industries gooseneck hitch and AirLift 5000-lb. capacity air springs, controlled by a WirelessAir compressor system. Next, we added a two-inch leveling kit from Hellbent Steel so we could fit 22.5-inch Alcoa Peterbuilt 10 lug wheels and 255/70 22.5R tires. Our exhaust system has been upgraded to a four-inch diameter stainless dual exhaust kit from BD with a four-inch inline, ECM-controlled, BD exhaust brake. We've reinforced the steering gear with a BD Steering Box Stabilizer. The transmission has been beefed up with BD's upgraded valve body, heavy-duty torque converter, forged steel flex plate and cast aluminum fluid pan.
