A Truck Spelled F-U-N

Fahlen's Project Almost Complete

Published in the June 2008 Issue June 2008 Duramax, Feature, Spotlight Lane Lindstrom

We first introduced Fahlen's latest project truck to you last fall ("Diesel For The "~Burbs,"_ Diesel Tech, Volume 1, Issue 2, page 80). Since then, Fahlen has been hard at work to finish his project truck, a process that he said is about "95 percent done."_

We suspect, at least from our own experience, project trucks or project anything, for that matter, are probably never done. There's always something else you can do to it. Or something new comes on the market and we just have to have it.

Fahlen might fall into that category but what is done already is. After all, remember his vanity plates: O - C - D. We won't get into the scientific jibber-jabber of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, but after seeing Fahlen's truck and going for a spin in it, "meticulous,"_ "absorbed"_ and "fixation"_ (as described in one definition of OCD), do seem to fit.

We met up with Fahlen and his Dodge Ram at the sand dunes outside of Moses Lake, WA, in late February.

To say Fahlen's process of building his latest project truck (he's had several other project trucks, including a 2003 Chevy Duramax 4x4, 2001 Dodge Ram 4x4 with a Cummins 5.9, 1998 GMC 1500 4x4 and 1984 Toyota 4x4) has been meticulous would be a huge understatement. Fahlen knew what he wanted for his 2006 Ram and did his homework before committing to any one change or addition.

Fahlen has been around diesel trucks for a while now and has made working around them not just a hobby, but a career. He works for Dynomite Diesel Performance in Monroe, WA, where he's the director of marketing and sales.
