Need A Boost?

Turbo Thruster II A Great Option For Ford Owners

Published in the August 2011 Issue August 2011 Column

For those Ford 6.0L and 7.3L Power Stroke owners looking for a little more umph, BD Diesel Performance might just have what you're looking for. BD's Turbo Thruster kit for the 2003-2007 6.0L Power Stroke features extended tip technology, double-port adjustable wastegate and shrouded housing.

This kit delivers quick response and supports airflow requirements to reduce exhaust temperatures all the way up to 450 rear wheel horsepower, yet maintains driveability on the street. The turbocharger incorporates BD's award-winning Turbine Diverter Valve that can utilize just one or both throats in the turbine housing to maintain turbo wheel speed and high boost level under load to overcome pressure drop associated with the EGR, plus allow for quicker spool-ups. Kits start at $2920.

For those with a Ford 1994-2003 7.3L Power Stroke, the Turbo Thruster II provide up to a 40 percent increase in airflow with no compressor surging or choked-off turbine flow. It features a Hot Isostatic Pressed compressor wheel with 66mm inducer and 88mm exducer that can handle high wheel speeds and boost pressures, plus a large 1.0 A/R turbine housing that can handle higher exhaust pressures.

Designed as a direct, bolt-in replacement, these units have superior pressure ratios, provide cooler EGT's, improve spool-up time and are capable of developing up to 36psi of boost pressure with BD's exclusive Heavy-Duty Wastegate with Turn Buckle adjustment.
