What:
True Flow XDI performance intake system for diesel applications.

What It Does:
Cold air, high flow intake, pretty self-explanatory. More air and cooler intake temps means better efficiency and more power. True Flow has spent countless hours designing these new XDI intake systems to give you the ultimate in performance and efficiency, while still looking good.

The Stats:

We installed the XDI intake on a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500HD equipped with the new LMM 6.6L Duramax. Our test truck is running the stock exhaust system, DPF intact and is powered by a Bullydog PMT in the performance tune.

We strapped our test truck on the dyno and made three dyno pulls to acquire a performance baseline. Our numbers averaged out to a solid 437 hp and 788 ft-lbs. of torque. The XDI intake system came with everything we needed for the install and went in pretty easily. Removing the factory air box and ducting is pretty simple and required just basic hand tools. After making our first three baseline runs, we installed the new True Flow XDI system while the truck cooled down some.

Installation took about 25 minutes and the XDI fit was near perfect. After buttoning everything up under the hood we again made three dyno runs, just as we did with the stock air intake. After crunching the numbers the final three pulls averaged 450 hp and 830 ft-lbs. of torque. That's an improvement of 13 hp and 42 ft-lbs. of torque. Not bad for nothing more than an air box and air filter change.

The Upside:

We did notice a performance improvement on the dyno. For the minimal investment of the kit, power improvements were very rewarding. The system fits great and is pretty simple to install. True Flow's filter design is much different than most aftermarket intakes on the market, with its foam-filtering material and offers great filtering.

After driving the truck for a few hundred miles we also noticed our attempted number of DPF-filter Regenerations to decrease substantially. The LMM powered GMC went from entering "Regen" mode 2-3 times per tank of fuel to just one per tank-something we were very happy to see.

The Downside:

The system doesn't look as clean as some of the other intakes we've tested. The separate pieces and hoses would look better as a solid system, but it functions just fine. We'd just like to see a more OEM appearing look.
